Swinging Doors I took the early season lead in the pool league as they narrowly defeated Frog & Onion 191-189. The match was decided in a last-game
10-5 and led Doors with 47 points. Henderson was high scorer for Frog & Onion with 45 points.
In another nail-biter, Mariners edged Queen's Club for their first win of the season. Gavin Corcoran was almost perfect for Mariners with 46 points, losing his only game to Trevor (Kidd) Mouchette. Mouchette and Paula Madeiros led Queen's with 39 points.
In a blow-out, Vasco III was an easy winner over War Vets II, 206-177, and were led by Manuel Furtado (47 points) and Victor Daponte (46). Joe Hayward scored 42 points for the War Vets.
SOCCER SOC All Rude Girls players and any others interested in joining the team this season are asked to attend a meeting at Devonshire Recreation Club on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
TENNIS TEN The Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association will hold a `grass roots programme' for young tennis players between the ages of five and 18 every Saturday morning during the Fall.
The clinics, run by head pro Coleridge Place and assistant Kelly Way, will begin tomorrow at the Tennis Stadium at 9 a.m. at a cost of $50 for 10 weeks of lessons.
Registration is tomorrow between 10.30 a.m. and 12 noon at the Tennis Stadium.
