The Winter National Age Group Championships, the last official meet of the season, get underway tomorrow at the BASA pool (1.00 p.m.).

The championships consist of a series of three meets, the first two (tomorrow and October 25) being over the longer distances and the last on November 15 being a sprint meet. A high point award will be presented in each age group.

Although Jimmy Pereira and Elisha Miller have been injured recently, they will both be challenging their respective rivals, Ronald Cowan and Lindsey Taylor, in the 15-17 age group.

The 13-14 years girls is expected to be highly competitive with the favourites being Keira Aitken, Lesley Smith, Kim Frith and Emma Rego.

In the boys 13-14, Jonathan Herring should come through strongly in the freestyle and individual medley.

In 11-12 division, several swimmers will be competing in this age group for the first time.

Although this is the last official meet of the season, training will continue for most of the swimmers through the winter.
