Vallis, White on course for `double'

net lead and extended their advantage in the gross division after yesterday's third round of the Founder's Trophy golf tournament hosted by Mid Ocean Club.

Bermuda's number one amateur Vallis and partner White combined to fire a net 64 for a three round total of 188 that carried them a stroke ahead of second-day leaders Terret West and Neil Lumsden.

West and Lumsden squandered a three shot lead in posting a net 68, falling to 189. Also on 189 were Tom Stearns and Alan Leyland after carding 63.

It would appear to be a three-group race for the title heading into today's final round, with the fourth place duo, William Lang and Donald Airey, five strokes off the pace on 193.

Enjoying the best outing yesterday were Angus Hyslop and Keith McCreadie, who carded 61.

Vallis and White top the gross division on 204, while Hyslop and McCreadie stand seven strokes back at 211, as do Michael Dunkley and Paul Evans.
