West led the 12-19 age group, among them competitors from the International Junior Golf Academy which he is attending.

The talented teen fired the low score for the tournament, 146 from rounds of 72-74, won his age group and also had the low first day score as he took home three trophies.

Similar to the Ryder Cup format, the event saw US and international golfers square off with the internationals snatching victory.

The 36-hole tournament was hosted by the Plantations Junior Golf Tour. Four other Academy students joined West, all of them placing high in their age divisions.

Hun Woo Park of Korea posted 148 (73, 75) to finish second in the boys 14-15 age group while Juan Ramon Barrull of Spain held on for third in the 14-15 group by carding two rounds of 75.

Harish Jacelon of Trinidad earned fourth place with scores of 75-78 in the 14-15 group. Ryan Ranson of Charleston, West Virginia was the pride of the American team, claiming second in the 12-13 group.

Several international Academy students have already shown promise in tournaments this year, including Bermudian Ryan Mello.

Two weeks ago Mello, West and three others filled the top five places at an event in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

During the last weekend of October, some 30 members of the Academy will be heading to the Sea View Marriott Resort in Absecon, New Jersey to compete in the first IJGT tournament of the year. They were selected to compete on the Tour based on their previous golf tournament rankings.

From the Tour's expected 1,500 membership, only 108 students will be invited to this first tournament which has had a waiting list since September.
