Wright, Cameron race clear
Cameron as they ran away with the respective men's and ladies titles in yesterday's Lindo's road race.
Stretched from its original distance of five miles to 10K (6.2 miles) and run over a new route from the Lindo's store in Warwick to Lindo's in Devonshire, the annual race provided a stern test of stamina as runners had to negotiate Rural, Collector's and Chaingate hills.
But Wright appeared untroubled as he romped home in an even 34 minutes, almost a minute ahead of second-placed David Dunwoody (34.54).
Junior runner Calvert Lee put in an impressive performance to place third overall in 35.40 followed by another teenager, Tyler Butterfield, who finished in 36.41, having arrived at the start straight from a 25-mile cycle time trial where he took junior honours.
Andre Manders (36.49) rounded out the top five with leading master Van Doyling placing sixth overall in 36.55. First senior master (over 50) was Geoff Bell in an impressive 40.01.
Cameron, winner of two races already this year, led almost from start to finish to clock 41.36, more than a minute clear of Jane Christie (42.50), the first master and second overall.
Rosa Peichoto placed third in 44.14 while the first senior women's master was Dorothy Gilchrist in 52.00.
The road race season continues this Sunday with the annual Evian 10 miler.
