Bermuda's future talent will be on display when the BCBC Cricket Festival, which is the culmination of five weeks of clinics, takes place at Wellington
The under 10 and over 10 consolation finals will kick off the action with Bailey's Bay taking on Southampton in the under 10s and Bay meeting St. John's in the over 10s.
After the lunch break, at about 12.30, the two finals will begin with St.
John's taking on St. George's in the under 10s and Southampton meeting St.
George's in the over 10s.
On show for St. John's in the under 10 finals will be the sons of the three Manders brothers Arnold, Andre and Anthony while Maxwell Curtis Jr will turn out for the east enders.
Allrounder Robin Swan Jr, one of the more talented youngsters emerging through the junior ranks, will play for Southampton in the over 10 final.
Starring for St. George's will be Ken Pitcher's son Azeem and Travis Smith.
Over 100 youngsters between the ages of seven and 17 from four clinics will be involved in the Festival, with the presentation of trophies and certificates to follow the last final at approximately 4 p.m. All matches are 20 overs per side.
In yesterday's semi finals St. John's beat Southampton in the under 10s, scoring 138 and dismissing Southampton for 56. In the other under 10 match St.
George's scored 140 for nine and dismissed Bailey's Bay for 56.
The over 10 semi finals saw Southampton reply with 117 for four in 19.3 overs to the St. John's total of 116 for four from 20 overs with Ian Armstrong scoring 45 and Robin Swan 42. In the other match St. George's dismissed Bay for 54 and replied with 55 for three.
BASKETBALL BAS Young Guns moved into a commanding position at the head of the Bermuda Basketball Association League following play over the weekend.
Guns followed a 19-point beating of People's Pharmacy with a convincing 82-49 thrashing of reigning Winter League champions Casey's Rebels at BAA Gym on Monday.
The raw athletic ability and swiftness of Guns played no small role as they out-hustled their lumbering opponents, grabbing loose balls and converting numerous fast-break opportunities.
An awe inspiring display was turned in by Guns' point guard Kevin Stovell, who produced handsome wizardry at both ends of the court.
He ended with 28 points and several assists, as his side moved their record to 5-0, giving them a one game lead over Bank of Bermuda.
Darren Smith scored 22 for Rebels (4-2) in what was their second loss of the season and dropped them into a three way tie for third.
In the night's opening contest Bank of Bermuda managed to crack the century mark in hammering a helpless Cablevision outfit 102-43.
Vernon Lambe proved unstoppable, slashing his way to 22 points, assisted by 19 from team-mate Simon Onabowale.
One of the hottest teams at present, Brat Pack, surged to their fourth win in a row when they turned back the challenge of Jamaican Grill 54-30.
Michael Smith and Chae Powell were the danger-men with 15 and 12 points respectively, while Grill's Shermel Mallory had 11 for the losers.
The night's remaining match-up pitted Chief Rockas against People's Pharmacy and ended with the former emerging 52-38 as People's shooting dried up in the second half, allowing Rockas to run rampant and in the end the result was a just one.
Sunday also saw four matches played, with Rebels, Guns, Rockas and Meyer's Flyers all victorious.
SAILING SLG The annual Etchells class Bilge Boys Regatta, hosted by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, was won convincingly by Brian North-Clauss sailing Tim Patton's boat Morning Glory .
North-Clauss led in both the day's races with second place finisher Max Gibbs finishing four-and-a-half points behind.
Nine boats answered the starter's gun, a better turnout than for a number of recent fleet races, in a day of bright sunshine and healthy breezes. The regatta title proved something of a misnomer, with no less than three women taking the helm at one point or another.
In the first race Debbie Betts, sailing Papers , was in second place at the first windward mark, with North-Clauss leading and Critter , helmed by Guy Eldridge, lying third. The leaders bunched up on the run, but Betts fell off the pace on the ensuing beat, eventually losing third place to Gibbs.
North-Clauss powered out of the start of the second race to take control of the regatta. Kevin Blee in Lazarus traded places with Gibbs several times in the race before passing on the final run to take second in the race.
Gibbs' third place was enough to give him second overall. Eldridge, who had started the day with a second, endured a disastrous first beat and could only recover to sixth, good enough for third place overall.
