Big names in golf tourney

Ben Wright, the outspoken English broadcaster who was bumped off the CBS commentary team last year following controversial remarks about players on the LPGA Tour, and affable Australian Bruce Devlin, an eight-time PGA Tour winner, will lead two of the 26 teams lined up for the week-long tournament.
Wright, a Mid Ocean Club member, is no stranger to the Island, having played here on numerous occasions over the last 20 years. He'll be part of a three-team contingent from the Champion Hills Club in Henderson Valley, North Carolina.
Devlin, who won on the PGA Senior Tour at the HealthSouth Classic in 1995, will head a team from Desert Mountain, in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he now lives.
The tournament, now in its 21st year -- the last 14 all sponsored by Hamilton restaurateur Fritz Reiter -- will, however, be without defending champion Tim Conley, who is channelling all his efforts this year into play on the Nike Tour. More details of the event are scheduled to be released at a lunchtime press conference today.
