Boulevard eager to bounce back
First Division clash two weeks ago, champions Boulevard will be aiming to turn the tables in tomorrow's FA Challenge Cup third round tie at Devonshire Rec.
Their 2.30 p.m. encounter is one of the feature matches in a round that sees the senior teams participating for the first time.
Winners over Southampton Rangers in last year's final, Boulevard have played nowhere near their best in recent matches, losing to Cougars and then playing to a scoreless draw against Vasco last Sunday.
But coach Donnie Hill isn't about to push the panic button and says he doesn't have anything special in mind for Cougars.
"We are going to go at them the way we go after any other team. We are going to try hard and put things right from the other night,'' said Hill.
"A lot of things went wrong in that last game, but we have worked on them since then and we are confident of doing better. So I expect to do well. We were missing a few key players and we expect to be much stronger this time around.'' Among the key players missing in that defeat were midfielder Dwight Warren and left full back Albert Caisey -- ruled out because of their Seventh Day Adventist commitments.
But both have trained hard this week and will be starters tomorrow.
Boulevard showed improvement in their 0-0 draw against league champions Vasco on Sunday, but their inability to score in a game they dominated for long periods has Hill concerned.
"We should have won that game. We simply missed too many scoring opportunities. On Sunday coming, as long as we make good use of our chances then everything will be okay.'' In another of the day's feature matches North Village entertain Dandy Town at Bernard Park.
Town are coming off two positive results, a 3-1 triumph over Devonshire Colts in the Friendship Trophy and a 2-1 league win over lowly St. George's.
Village, despite behind held to a 1-1 draw against Southampton Rangers, are capable of fully extending their opponents in this match and the final result is likely to be close.
In other ties, Devonshire Colts are slight favourites over PHC, Vasco should get past Southampton, St.George's and St. David's meet in a game that could go either way, Somerset Trojans will be favoured over Wolves and Hotels should beat Social Club.
The surviving Commercial Division side, Lobster Pot, will need to be at their very best to get past a solid Somerset Eagles outfit.
