Campbell scores late to sink Zebras
This match looked like being decided by Sammy Swan's 18th minute goal until Clevie Campbell popped up with two late goals at Somerset to put Cougars into the semi-finals.
Cougars saved their best football until the second half, and late in the half at that, as PHC went close to doubling their lead just a minute before their opponents equalised.
Then, with six minutes left on the clock, Campbell finished off a good move to sink the Zebras who clearly missed five key players -- Blenn Bean, Dano Outerbridge, Shawn Simons, Ottis Steede and Raynel Lightbourne.
Despite that they started promisingly as striker Sammy Swan went close in the ninth minute after collecting a pass inside the box before running the ball over the line after rounding 'keeper Leon Place.
In the 18th minute the deadlock was broken when Swan calmly side-footed past Place from close range after the ball had been knocked about inside the box.
After Phillip Clarke drove over the top for Cougars, PHC went close to adding a second when Kenny Burt's freekick from the edge of the penalty area was placed through the wall and the diving Place fumbled before the ball was kicked clear.
Two Cougars players, Galvin Butterfield, filling in for the absent Shawn Smith in defence, and Campbell were both booked in the first half for fouls. PHC defender Mark Wade brought the game to life in the second half with a long range shot that went just inches over the bar. Minutes later Winston Trott started a good move when he controlled the ball on the halfway line and then fed Burt with a through ball. But Burt's shot was well covered by Place who had narrowed the angle.
The Zebras went close to stretching their lead in the 70th minute when Trott connected with a far post header only to see the ball hit the post and roll across the face of the goal.
That was to be the last of what they had to offer as Cougars struck a minute later to launch their fightback. Campbell scored from the penalty spot after he had been fouled by Damon Francis on the left side of the box.
And then as extra time loomed he struck the 84th minute winner after a ball through the PHC defence by Wali Salaam sent him clear and he lobbed the ball perfectly over the advancing Ty Williams and then watched as the ball dropped over the line.
