Cricketers shine in England

first round of the Eastern Counties against Flatts with some outstanding batting for their clubs in the Essex Colour Assembly League recently.

Gibbons scored 42 for Buckhurst Hill against Harlow in an eight wicket win after Harlow had been dismissed for 101. The following day he stroked 87 in a Sunday limited overs match against Leigh-on-Sea who scored 182 all out as Gibbons claimed two for 46 from 12 overs. Buckhurst replied with 185-4.

On Saturday, Gibbons scored 24 in Buckhurst's drawn match against Harold Wood who scored 192-8. Gibbons took two for 39 from nine overs. Buckhurst replied with 159-8.

Buckhurst picked up a 109-run win over Independent on Sunday in a 50-overs match, scoring 243 all out and then dismissing Independent for 134. Gibbons claimed four for 31 from eight overs, having earlier scored 103 from 14 fours and three sixes.

Last evening Buckhurst played Hemess, a team from Holland which played against Bermuda in a warmup match in the 1992 ICC Trophy. Gibbons scored 79 out of the Buckhurst total of 179 before the visitors replied with 180-8 to win by two wickets. Gibbons took two for 47 from eight overs.

Outerbridge scored a century and a 95 in his last two matches for Old Parksonians in the same league.

First Outerbridge scored 28 out of Old Parksonians' total of 200-6 on Saturday, with Walthamstow replying with 194 all out, falling seven runs short of victory.

Batting at number three on Sunday against Southgate, Outerbridge scored 112 from 14 fours and five sixes out of the Old Parks total of 288-3. Southgate were reduced to 240-7 from their allotted overs.
