CRYSTAL PALACE CUP

Champions North Village came from behind to defeat Devonshire Colts and advance to the semi-finals of the Crystal Palace Youth Cup yesterday.

Village, who beat Somerset 2-1 in extra-time in last year's final, trailed early to a 10th minute strike from Colts' Geron Trott.

However, the visitors showed remarkable resourcefulness in rebounding from the early setback.

Lanky striker Jaimie Smith pulled the visitors level with a 15th minute goal and the score remained deadlocked at the interval.

Colts were finally laid to rest in the second half by the resurgent young Red Devils, as Jahmeiko Jennings gave Village the lead in the 48th minute, while Dennis Lottimore put matters beyond doubt in the 73rd minute.

PHC 5 Southampton 2 PHC advanced to the semi-finals of the Crystal Palace when Rangers were made to pay for being a man short at PHC Stadium.

The Zebras cruised into a comfortable 4-1 lead by the half as Steven Astwood broke the deadlock in the seventh minute with the first of his two goals and Kurt Dowling made it 2-0 two minutes later.

Travis Wilkinson pulled a goal back for Rangers in the 23rd minute but that would be the closest Rangers would get as Dawan Tucker (24th) and Astwood (29th) gave PHC a three-goal lead at the half.

A miss by Murray Bailey early in the second half, when his effort hit the near post, proved costly for Rangers as in the 53rd minute PHC extended their lead when Kevin Richards scored.

Bailey did pull another one back for Rangers late in the half.

St. George's 0 BAA 2 An unanswered second half burst by BAA enabled them to secure the win and a spot in the final four of the Crystal Palace Cup.

Playing at St. David's, both sides found plenty of room to roam, but could produce nothing in terms of goals during the first half.

The second half painted a different picture -- at least for BAA -- as the young Green Knights rolled into the lead with a penalty converted by Nelson Almeida. And Joel Duffy then sealed the victory with a second goal.

Wolves 4 Boulevard 7 A high scoring game propelled Boulevard in the final four.

Mel Gibbons scored four times and Jamal Robinson, Dexter Samuels and Clarence Outerbridge added single strikes for the winners. Wolves scorers were not available.
