HARNESS RACING RAH Michael Roberts, driving Just a Gigolo, needed hospital treatment on Sunday after he was involved in a crash at Vesey Street.
Initially Roberts was attended to by St. John's Ambulance personnel and later went to hospital, but is now recouperating at home. Neither he nor the pony were seriously hurt.
The incident, which came in the fifth race, and the heavy rain storm marred the programme.
Some drivers elected not to race their ponies on the waterlogged track however, the majority continued racing and the programme was completed.
Miss Tuffer Road, owned and driven by Leslie Wolffe, won both her heats and now has a five-race win streak.
MOTOCROSS SCR All of the Pepsi National motocross races were completed on Sunday despite the wind and heavy rain. The first races, under windy and cloudy conditions, were won by Brandon DeSilva and Pierre Davis in the PW50 and PW80 Classes.
Aaron Cannonier and Howard Paynter were the winners in the 60cc and 80cc classes while Jamel Hassell and Aaron Pace were victorious in the 125 classes.
Cannonier's triumph took him to 20 wins overall in the 60cc class with Jakai Brimmer and Gary Cann following him home second and third for the day.
Paynter's hat trick moved him from sixth to third overall, some 44 points out of first. Second is Treadwell Nesbitt.
Hassell returned to his winning ways after last week's disaster and beat Carlston Burgess.
Mark Hatterley, the Pepsi 125cc leader, finished third. The second 125 B race started in rain and Pace started back in the pack but passed Kemo Simons and Charles Butterfield to win.
