The Blues record at their Maine Road headquarters is one of the worst in the country and has been the main factor behind their season of struggle.

It was just 12 months ago that City were promoted from Division One into the Premiership, but they could soon find themselves slipping through the relegation trapdoor. City are second from bottom of the league, with only Bradford City below them.

They are fast running out of matches and today's clash at home to West Ham is one of their biggest games of the year.

But despite the enormity of the task ahead, Goater says he and his colleagues have not lost their sense of humour.

Referring to their dismal displays in front of their own supporters the Bermudian hitman said: "Some of the players have asked the boss if we can use the away dressing room on Saturday.'' Though the job at hand may be big, Goater says he aims to go into the game in a relaxed frame of mind.

"As a footballer I am looking at this game and want to enjoy it,'' he said.

"I mean I want to relax into the game because I feel if I get caught up in all the hype I will not play to my best. It is such an important time in the history of the club, I want to enjoy the game so that I do not play within myself.

"The one lesson I have learned from relegation and promotion in the last three years is not to get caught up in all the media hype.

"You can take that on the pitch while the fans anxiety can also transfer to the players. I try not to read the papers or watch the television at times like this. I know what my job is and I want to fulfill it.''
