Hood, BAA set the early pace

it three wins out of three at the top of Division A in the Commercial League, while Fire Service kicked their season into gear with the day's biggest win.

Hood edged North Village Rams 2-1 with Derek Thomas opening the scoring in the ninth minute and Mike Stenhouse adding the second in the 20th. Kacy Simons pulled one back for Rams in the 27th minute.

Wanderers were 4-1 winners over PHC Raiders, but not before falling behind to a Keith Bell goal after just 10 minutes. Thomas Gribbin levelled the score after 24 minutes and it stayed that way until late in the match when Wanderers netted three times in the final 12 minutes.

Darren Hope put Wanderers ahead in the 78th minute and further goals from Dean McIntyre and Arthur Reilly in the 80th and 82nd minutes cushioned the win.

Fire Service had eight different scorers in their 9-0 rout of Vasco Mariners -- their first win of the season. Brian Fubler was the only Fireman to score twice as further strikes came from Bo Saggar, Carlos Lee, Danon McGowan, Ralph Scott, Robert Thomas, Kenny Bartrum and Lacy Bean.

Prison Officers also had their first win, beating MR Onions 3-2 as substitutes Gregory Simons and Reginald Pitcher scored the important goals in the 63rd and 65th minutes. Stephen Ludeate opened the scoring for Onions in the eighth minute before Millard Rawlins equalised in the 26th. Sub Scott Cervino pulled a goal back for Onions in the 68th minute.

In the other match, Lobster Pot edged Exiles 2-1. Jim McLaren and Euda O'Reilly scored for Pot in the 23rd and 41st minutes before Edwin Cannonier replied for Exiles in the 43rd.

Valley lost their first match of the season when Devonshire All-Stars beat them 2-1 to break a four-way tie for first place in Division B. Jeff Richardson scored both All-Stars goals while Kevin Isaac replied for Valley.

St. George's All-Stars picked up their third straight win with a 5-0 hammering of Belco. Milton Jones scored twice and Dale Thompson, Jan Cieters and Morris O'Brien one each for St. George's.

Somerset Extros, after two defaults, finally got a team together for their home match against Devonshire Lions and fought to a 3-3 draw. Mike Corday and Lloyd Telford were among the scorers for the west enders.

The BFA have confirmed that new team Cleveland have dropped out of the league after failing to register sufficient players.

Rude Girls and PHC were confortable winners in the first round of the women's Konica Cup last Friday.

Rude Girls routed Royals 9-1 with Chevonne Furbert netting five of the goals, Catherine Clarke two and captain Sekena Clarke (penalty) and Tamisha Darrell the others. Tanya Semos replied for Royals.

Waynesha Bean scored four goals for PHC in their 7-0 win over Dandy Stars.

Genevana Simmons, Kimmisha Perinchief and Stephanie Fleming netted one apiece.
