Tour de France hero George Hincapie, who rides for Lance Armstrong's Postal Service team, recently moved within minutes of Hubbard's home and the two immediately started training together.

On Sunday, the two riders were on the start line together for the 80-mile `Divided Waters Road Race' in South Carolina. Hubbard, who rides for New Jersey Navigators and the Postal Service rider, Hincapie, did not have their teams in the race and therefore had a free reign to ride their own races.

Hubbard (left) took advantage of the freedom and was active from the start, taking part in all the major moves.

With about 40 of the 80 miles completed, Hubbard tried a solo breakaway but was pulled in by another rider, Paul King, and eventually Hincapie bridged the gap and the three riders rode clear of the field.

With three laps to go, King was dropped and Hubbard and Hincapie worked to secure their lead until the uphill finish line was in sight at which point Hincapie showed his class as he outsprinted the Bermudian to finish half a bike length ahead.

Hubbard has one final race this weekend as he wraps up his 1999 season. He has re-signed for the Navigators for the 2000 season.
