Hubbard second in US race
from the south of France to the US.
Following his first victory on American soil last month, 21-year-old Hubbard took second place among a field of 90 riders in Sunday's Tour de Lititz in Pennsylvania, again leading home a group of four cyclists from the Tri State Velo team.
Over gently undulating terrain in temperatures in the mid 90s, Hubbard was involved in an early three-man breakaway in the 50-mile Category 1/Category 2 event, but was almost caught by the chasing peloton as the race drew to a close.
As the eventual winner made his move, Hubbard took up the chase but was pipped by a bike length at the finish. His three team-mates all finished in the chasing pack.
This weekend sees Hubbard head for a two-stage race in New York over Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, fellow Bermudian cyclist MacInnis Looby also posted an encouraging performance on Sunday when he finished eighth in a field of 60 riders at the 70-mile Lake Placid road race.
Enjoying the mountainous course, Looby made a break on one of the steep climbs and found himself in sole position of second place with a three minute advantage on the pack.
But as the leader pressed ahead to eventually win by five minutes, Looby was caught on a long descent and had to settle for eighth place in a group of 10 riders.
