top young golfers faced each other in the Canadian Junior Championships.
Steven Roy and Fraser Hunt teed off in the quarter-finals of the 15-16-year old division of the tournament in Ontario after successfully defeating Brent Branham and Nils Homer respectively in the previous round.
At the end of the match Hunt emerged with a six and five victory.
"It wasn't really close,''said Eric Robinson, chairman of the Bermuda Junior Golf Association's selection committee. "Fraser was up during most of the match and Steven was struggling to stay with him,'' David Smith, meanwhile, the medalist in the division, lost his match with Axle Riley on the 18th hole.
In the quarter-finals of the 12-14 year division Andy Boyce of Bermuda beat Will Mitchel of Canada five and four.
But there was no such luck for Thomas Edwards who went down three and one to Canadian Will Cumberland.
In the girl's division quarter-finals, Laura Robinson beat Ashleigh Korsack one-up to secure a place in today's semi-final.
Bermuda's Stephanie Lewis lost to Veronica Lopes on the first hole of a sudden death play-off after the pair were all square through 18 holes.
Robinson said he was pleased with the way the Island's players were progressing.
Of the 12 entries from Bermuda, seven made the cut after two days of stroke play enabling them to take part in the match play section of the event.
