Justin Barritt conquered the elements to card a fine 76 in heavy rain and strong winds during last weekend's Bermuda Junior Golf Association group five
third on 80.
In group four, Chris Brough returned an 88 to beat Mark Robinson on retrogression. Ryan Mello took third on 89.
Group three play saw Anthony Smith lead with an 89, one better than Scott Roy with Andrew Boyce third on 94. Group two players completed 13 holes, Ted Terceira carding 62 for first place, followed by Jarryd Dillas (63) and William Tucker (66).
In group one over nine holes, Steven Roy carded 43, four better than second placed Trevor Mills (47). Shannon Trott fired 48.
The novices played at Southampton Princess where Thomas Edwards took top spot, returning 35 over nine holes, one ahead of Romana Dill and three better than third placed Laura Robinson.
In captain's choice play at Belmont, the novice B team of Darius Gordyk, Ryan Swan, Nick Taylor and Martin Harvey won with a score of 23 over six holes.
BOWLING BOW Fishbowl League leaders Cow Pollies watched their advantage shrivel to four points after they were cut down by Dolphins.
Marilyn Simmons keyed the 31 -1 upset for 11th-placed Dolphins, with a 516 series that was the best among all women. Simmons' efforts offset a 505 series from Barbara Smith of Pollies.
Wahoo took advantage of the slip, beating Barracuda 21 -11 behind David Mello's 568 series.
Tuna, Goldfish and Mackerel all completed clean sweeps of their opponents, downing Rockfish, Snappers and Marlins.
Remaining contests saw Piranhas and Porgies battle to a 2-2 draw, while Hinds got past Angel Fish 3-1.
In the Miller High Life League, New Mix Ups and Terminators engaged in a spirited battle, ending with the former winning 16-14 as just seven pins separated the two aides.
Vance Gilbert led the winners with a 247 game and 641 series, while Terminators' Kevin Swan kept the match close with a 608 series and 236 game.
League leaders Marlboro maintained their position atop the standings after holding off New Breed 181 -111 . Other matches saw Stevedoring Services beat Team Metro 22-8, Tools and Equipment defeat Team Electric 22-8, while Thompson's escaped with a 17-13 win over Lite Ice.
BRIDGE BDG The Bermuda Regional Bridge tournament gets underway next week at Southampton Princess Hotel, with a large number of overseas competitors expected.
Play begins on Saturday, January 25, using a computer system of dealing cards to both amateurs and professionals. Nearly 800 took part a year ago and it is expected that the number will rise by seven percent this time around.
