A number of junior riders, including Aaron Cannonier, Anthony Grant and Jimmy-Lee Weaver, have managed to get in some competition overseas where they acquitted themselves well and they should be prepared for the new campaign.

The 80cc class looks like being the largest with a number of new riders and the expected promotion to the the class of Anthony Grant, Gary Cann and Randy Munro.

Also, for the first time in 13 years, there will be a female on the track as Melanie Munro completes the first ever brother-sister pairing. She is the sister of Randy Munro.

Carlston Burgess was the fastest in last Sunday's practice when he rounded the course in 1:01. Next was another 125cc rider, Wentworth Tucker, in 1:05 while Nicholas Hassell and Terry Sousa went round in 1:18 and 1:19 for third and fourth.

In the 125B class Cory Smith, Burgess and Ingham will probably be the frontrunners as national number one, Aaron Pace, is sidelined without a bike.

The BACU are planning to bring in five teams of riders during the season, with one of them possibly being an all-girls team.

Gates at Coney Island open at 9.30 tomorrow morning and racing starts at 12.00 noon.
