Opponents feel Winter chill
Yanks and an Onion into top place at the half-way stage of the Bermuda Anglers Club's International Light Tackle Tournament.
The team, which also includes John Duval and Tim Templeton, collected 5,860.72 points on Tuesday for a total of 10,418.53 which puts them almost 2,000 points ahead of first-day leaders Hatteras Haulers. In third are Goombay Hookers on 5,568.75 points.
Winter amassed 3,151.56 points on Tuesday after hooking a 37lb Yellowfin Tuna and two 18lb Blackfin Tuna. Previous top angler, Buddy Sowers of Hatteras Haulers earned just 506.25 points with his only catch, an 18lb Blackfin Tuna, which dropped him to second overall angler, with 3,666.02 points compared with Winter's 6,981.64 points.
That sets the stage for an exciting last two days of fishing today and tomorrow after yesterday's rest day in the tournament. Hosts Bermuda Anglers Club are hoping to change their fortunes, having remained pointless over the first two days of competition.
The leading boat overall is Barong , skippered by Derek Exell on 8.949.16.
Gene Barnes' Blue Chip was the top boat for the day with 5,860.72 and moved from last to second place overall.
