Rangers roll to another win: CRICKET: First Division

PHC 104 Southampton Rangers continued their unbeaten run at the top of the First Division Open League with a comfortable 175-run win over PHC at White Hill field.

Keith Wainwright and Janeiro Tucker followed up Darren Burchall's century from last weekend with tons of their own as Rangers piled on the runs after being sent in on a good batting strip.

This time Burchall went for just eight, leaving Wainwright and opener Sheridan Ming (30) to add 57 for the second wicket. Wainwright batted through the innings for his 101 not out which came in two hours and 15 minutes and included 10 fours and two sixes.

Also scoring a century was Tucker who hit an even 100 from 14 fours and three sixes in 121 minutes.

Cal Waldron led the PHC bowling with three for 65 from 14 overs. In their batting, PHC had a high score of 23 from Kevin Dill while Kallan Johnston scored 18. Garry Williams claimed six for 40 from 12 overs and Gary Crofton three for 28 from 7.2.

Flatts 120 Social Club 124-8 In their final outing before the first round of the Eastern Counties, Flatts suffered a shock defeat to Social Club at Devonshire Rec.

Captain Dwayne Adams played a big part in the Social Club win, first taking five for 62 from 15 overs and then scoring 52 to keep his team in sight of victory.

Captain Troy Dean and Dale Benjamin were joint high men for Flatts with 16 while Gordon Hollis scored 14. Kevin Bean, sharing the new ball with Adams, claimed three for 47 from 14 overs and Cecil Tucker two for two from 10 deliveries.

Bean also chipped in with an important 15 in the batting while opener Thomas Brangman was the other batsman in double figures with 16. Hollis claimed three for 24, Kevin Hurdle two for 29 and Derek Wright two for five.

Bailey's Bay 128 St. David's 131-7 Dewell Smith emerged as the man-of-the-match as champions St. David's beat Bailey's Bay by three wickets in the first round of the Junior Eastern Counties on Saturday at St. David's.

Smith claimed three for 19 as Bay were restricted to 128, despite an opening stand of 31. O.Dill was their high man with 22 while C.Trott and J.West both scored 18.

Opener Smith then scored 27 in 76 minutes as St. David's replied with the loss of seven wickets. O.J. Pitcher and S.Raynor both scored 21 and Landro Minors 16 not out. O.Dill led the Bay bowling with four for 34 from 16.2 overs with six maidens.
