They defeated the other three sides by a combined score of 102 points to 19, starting with a 26-7 win over Mariners in their opening match.

Neville Ross scored two tries, Phil Heaney added one along with two conversions and Steve Given scored a fourth which Michael Kane converted.

Greens replied with a solitary converted try from Rob Morgan.

Renegades then met Teachers who had won their opening match with a 43 point thrashing of Police.

The Reds notched up their points with two tries from captain Noel Capewell and Nathan Browne and single scores from Tim White, Ashley Redmond, Dave Beau and Henry Adderley.

Browne and Dennis Cherry added two conversions apiece while Police scrum half Alex Rollins replied with a single try.

But against Renegades, Teachers were able to manage only a try each from Billy McNiven and Dennis Cherry. Brown kicked one conversion while Heaney kicked three and scored two tries for Renegades.

He was joined by Given and Peter Shillingford who scored one try each as 'Gades ran out 26-12 winners.

Police were then unable to match Renegades' firepower as they went down 50-0.

Heaney led the wrecking crew with five conversions and a try. Alan Mackie added two tries while 'Gades got one apiece from Shandy Purewal, Bradfield Adderley, Rod Stewart and the Kane Brothers -- Ronan and Michael.

Mariners took second place following a 22-12 victory over Police and a 24-12 win over Teachers who finished third while Police brought up the rear.

Renegades' Youth retained the Thalia Jones Trophy after a hard fought three-point win on New Year's Day over Young Bermuda.

Renegades, fielding a larger and older team, had their hands full dealing with a determined Bermuda side who fought from behind through the entire game.

'Gades jumped on the scoreboard about ten minutes into the game after their put-in to a scrum. The ball was sent to the backs where a double switch in the centres put South African full back Arnie Hanekom through the Young Bermuda back line and into the left corner.

Renegades continued to attack behind Tommy Steinhoff in the forwards and Ronan Kane in the backs but gritty tackling by Bermuda and solid play by their full back Kevin Zuill denied the score.

Bermuda came out strongly after the interval but were also unable to score despite some determined running from Nathan Browne and Daniel Morgan.

However, they conceded a penalty in front of their own posts which Michael Kane kicked to push the score to 8-0.

Bermuda then launched their backs in an attempt to find a weakness in Renegades defence and it was outside centre Daniel Cooney who notched up the try after side-stepping three defenders.

But Browne missed the conversion leaving his side three points behind and it was not until 15 minutes later that he was able to redeem himself by slotting a penalty over the posts to tie the score.

Sensing defeat, Renegades stoutened their resolve and began to attack the Bermuda goal-line from all parts of the field.

Their efforts paid off when a high tackle by a Bermuda Youth player gave them a penalty which Kane kicked in the last minute to seal the win.
