Somerset host Saturday's fourth annual Veterans All-Star game.

The match, which kicks off at 3.15 p.m. at Somerset field, will again honour those who have made significant contributions to the sport in the west and east end communities.

This year six people will be recognised, among them the late Erskine Brangman of Somerset, Conrad Simons, one of the Trojans' first and most successful coaches, former Wellington Rovers player Cal Brown, and Ritchie Foggo Sr. of St. George's Colts.

Two others whose contributions will be recognised are long-time sports journalist Colin Zuill of The Royal Gazette and ex-referee Glynn Gilbert.

Proceeds from the match will go to the Leroy Thompson fund. Thompson is currently abroad receiving treatment for an illness.

Somerset won the first two matches before the teams battled to an exciting 4-4 draw last year at Garrison Field.

TABLE TENNIS PP With only two rounds of the Bank of NT Butterfield League remaining, defending champions Old Colony Club and Prison Officers were tied on 30 points from 15-1 records going into last night's matches.

In their make-up match last Thursday night, Prison Officers defeated The Centre 8-3.

Old Colony Club had won 146 games and lost 30 before last night. Prison Officers had won 140 and lost 36.

OCC went into last night's game without their best player, Nick Frost, who is off the Island. Teenager Ben Dier, the junior champion, was expected to fill the gap.

Next week Frost will also be away when OCC visit Young Men's Social Club.

Players have two weeks left to qualify for the top 10 round robin tournament which has been brought forward to March 21 at Bermuda College. A total of 13 players are in contention.

BOWLING BOW m Partee made full use of their 669 handicap to capture the Division One team event title by 71 pins at the 35th Annual Bermuda Women's Bowling Association Championships at the Warwick Lanes.

Partee finished with a three-game total of 3,063 to hold off You Go Girls, who tallied 2,992 (441 hcp) while Just Enough (2,892) did just that to keep Golden Girls (2,866) out of third place.

Low handicappers Mixed Classic Ladies (276) struggled to get their game together and could only manage the seventh best scratch total which left them rooted at the bottom of the 12-team division.

In Division Two, Sisters With An Attitude surrendered over 100 pins in handicap to Young Folks but nevertheless were able to scoop top honours after a 3,049 series.

Young Folks sported a 915 handicap as opposed to the new champions' 780 and came ever so close to springing the upset before settling for second on 2,995.

Lucky Strikes were third on 2,986.

The low handicappers in the 13-team field were Working Girls (705) but, just like their Division One counterparts, did little to make up the stagger in posting only the sixth best scratch total before finishing ninth.

Competition continues in singles and doubles events throughout the week.

LADIES HOCKEY HOC Bottom club Swifts scored their first victory of the season in the Bermuda Ladies Hockey Association A Division on the weekend, beating the team immediately above them, Bluebirds, 1-0.

But they remain rooted on the bottom, eight points adrift.

The result was reversed in a match-up between the B Division sides as Bluebirds won 2-0, both goals coming in the last 15 minutes from Ingrid McKenna. Blues now trail leaders Swallows by just one point.

In the other B Division match, Cardinals edged Orioles 1-0 thanks to a goal in the dying minutes from Michelle Clark.

In Sunday afternoon's B Cup round robin tournament, victory went to Swallows ahead of Orioles, Swifts and Cardinals in that order. Canaries and Bluebirds tied for fifth.
