St. David's force crucial draw
Cleveland 152-8 Cleveland hung on for a crucial draw at Sea Breeze Oval after showing no interest in the imposing total posted by St. David's after they had been sent in to bat.
The Islanders drew early blood when Dale Fox bowled Courtney Trott with just one run on the board. Two more wickets fell in the 30s when Carlton Smith went for 18 and two runs later Jason Simons departed for a duck, both falling to spinner Reginald Pitcher.
A stand of 51 between Wayne Smith and Curtis Jackson boosted Cleveland's hopes of a draw. Smith celebrated his promotion back up the order -- he batted at number eight on Saturday -- by scoring 44 while Jackson chipped in with 34.
The biggest contribution to the Cleveland total came in the extras column where there was a total of 46, including 37 byes.
Jason Simons was filling in behind the stumps for Allan Douglas, ruled out because of knee injury he got on Saturday when a delivery from Simons hit him.

Earlier the St. David's batting was led by 83 from number three batsman James Pace while opener Shea Pitcher scored his second straight half-century at Sea Breeze, following up his 52 against Bailey's Bay last weekend with 69 this time from nine fours and two sixes.
After putting on 38 for the first wicket with youngster Desmond Crockwell, Pitcher and Pace laid the foundation for a big total as they added 138 for the second wicket. Pace smashed six fours and three sixes.
Also getting amongst the runs on an easy batting wicket was Philip Pitcher with 48 and Sammy Robinson and Dale Fox with 17 and 20 not out respectively during a last-wicket stand of 38 which brought up the 300 for the Islanders for the first time this season.
Spinners Gregory Talbot and Johnny Richardson featured in the bowling for Cleveland, bowling 44 of the 59 overs between them and sharing eight wickets.
Talbot claimed four for 117 from 23 overs and Richardson four for 88 from 21.
The match between Willow Cuts and Bailey's Bay was not played at Somerset because the field was not in playing condition following a concert there on Friday night.
