Over 300 transfers occurred during the off-season with prominent First Division club North Village losing the most players -- 32.

Counted among the departures are the likes of brothers Albert and Clinton Caisey along with Bermuda international defender Shawn Smith. The Caiseys have returned to their former club, Boulevard, while Smith is set to again don the gold and green of Devonshire Cougars.

Other `first-teamers' on the move from the North Shore club are diminutive midfielder Stephen Coddington (to Cougars), Kevin Bailey (to Somerset Extros) and Cymande Davis (to Dandy Town).

Meanwhile, Cornell Castle, a long-time stalwart, has decided to retire to the more leisurely pace of the Commercial Division, and is set to link up alongside several former Village players at North Village Rams.

One major pick-up is the addition of Andrew Bascome, who returns after a year of inactivity, taking over as the Director of Coaching, but it is not known whether he plans a return to active duty on the pitch.

The next most active club in terms of numbers were league champions Somerset, with 26 members seeking greener pastures elsewhere.

Former skipper Dennis Brown ruffled more than a few feathers at the west end through his move to Vasco even after being assured of a place at the heart of the Trojan defence, a position he lost due to a leg injury that kept him out much of last season.

Heading into the Trojan lair are three ex-Hotels players, Gladwin Edness, Chris Sabir and Clifton Anderson. Crafty midfielder Duval Binns also has his eyes on a spot after leaving nearby Somerset Eagles.

Much focus has been placed on First Division new boys Vasco and Southampton, but while the latter have just a few additions -- goalkeeper Randy Darrell and youngster Shawn Simons, late of PHC, the most notable -- the Portuguese club have stocked up on proven talent.

The main loser in the exchange appears to be Dandy Town, who have lost Burton Bruce, Voorhees Astwood and Dennis Robinson to the Second Division champions.

Former Hamilton Parish striker Irving Burgess has also pledged his allegiance.

Also gone from Town are Neil Paynter (to St. George's), Lionel Cann (to St.

David's), and Stevie Wade and Shivaugn Smith (to Boulevard).

Most teams are now well into preparing for this season and no doubt soccer lovers are anxiously awaiting the opening whistle to kick off 1993-94.
