Colts sitting pretty after demolition job

Tymon Daniels, centre right, was on target for X-Roads

Devonshire Colts climbed to the top of the First Division after hammering Young Men’s Social Club 6-0 at Police Field yesterday.

Social Club, tied with Boulevard and Wolves going into the weekend, were hit by two early goals and never recovered as the home side scored four more in the second half.

Social Club played the entire second half with ten men after the 43rd-minute sending off of Saki Tuzo for abusive language.

Kyle Jones broke the deadlock in the sixth minute before Treshon Smith made it 2-0 soon after.

Carlos Trott netted the third Colts goal in the 58th minute before Jones made it 4-0 in the 66th.

Continuous late pressure paid off for Colts, who completed the six-pack when Donavin Durrant scored an own-goal in the 70th minute and Eli Smith converted in the 85th from the penalty spot.

Colts lead Boulevard and Social Club by two points, though Boulevard could reclaim top spot tonight when they play fourth-place Wolves at Devonshire Recreation Club at 7pm.

Devonshire Cougars play Southampton Rangers in tonight’s Premier Division at 9pm.

A thumping strike from Anwar Telford earned home side Somerset Eagles their first victory of the season over St David’s at White Hill Field yesterday. Telford scored the winner in the 37th minute with a 20-yard shot.

St David’s, who slumped to their fourth loss of the season, were denied late in the match after hitting the woodwork. At the other end, Eagles squandered chances to increase their 1-0 lead.

The victory moved them from seventh to sixth in the table.

X-Roads chalked up their second victory of the season after winning 3-1 away at Paget Lions at Southampton Oval. Tymon Daniels put X-Roads ahead in the 22nd minute before Triston Daniels doubled the visiting side’s lead 12 minutes later.

Paget gained a foothold in the match after Damon Morris converted in the 57th minute.

However, any thoughts the home side had of making further inroads were dashed when Ricky Saltus netted in the 75th to restore X-Roads’ two-goal cushion.

A brace from Henry Santucci inspired Ireland Island Rangers to a 2-1 win at home to BAA Wanderers at Somerset Cricket Club on Saturday. Jamin Lottimore scored for the visiting side.
