BIU mural postponed again — until Sunday

A mural of Dr EF Gordon painted by the Chewstick Foundation

The painting of two murals celebrating the 68th anniversary of the official registration of the Bermuda Industrial Union has been postponed for a second time because of inclement weather.

The Chewstick Foundation now aims to paint the murals on Sunday at 8pm at the BIU headquarters on Union Street, and is inviting members of the public both to attend and participate.

The performing arts charity hopes to celebrate the union’s “incredible history and leadership” with murals to honour trade union pioneers Dr Barbara Ball, the first female doctor to practise in Bermuda, and Ottiwell Simmons, the former general president for the BIU.
