Cheers to 100 years!

100th anniversary on December 29, 1994. Mr. Fred Beek, who at 98 is the oldest customer of T.A. Adderley & Sons, cut a nine-square-foot cake to commemorate the occasion. Mr. Beek was joined by Mrs. Catherine Adderley, Mr. Stanley Adderley, and Mr. Walter Adderley, Mr. and Mrs. Gareath and Maxine Adderley and their son Gethin. Representatives of the firm's suppliers, Mr. Ralph Tumbridge and Mr. Keith Winter of Winter Cookson Petty, Mr. Michael Charlton of BGA, Mr. Mike Doidge of Bristol Cellars, and Mr. Jim Butterfield and Mr.

Eddie Sousa of Butterfield & Vallis also joined in the store's centennial celebrations. The cake cutting marked the 100-year anniversary of the opening of the store, which was originally located on Parson's Road. After being recently renovated and expanded to boast more than 2,500 square feet of retail space, the store's grand opening is today, January 19, 1995. To mark the store's centennial and grand opening, T.A. Adderley offered a special draw in December last year which will continue through to the end of this month. With every $50 purchase, customers are eligible to draw for a $500 travel voucher, a $500 grocery voucher, gift certificates, dinner for two as well as other prizes donated by the firm's wholesalers. The store now offers a five percent discount on Wednesdays. And they plan to advertise more specials in the new year, according to owner, Mr. Gareath Adderley. The century-old grocery store now offers a full range of foodstuffs from fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products and frozen food to fresh meats.
