Shawn Perot, who has been a concert promoter since 1992, and has put on the 4 by 4 Beach Party Explosion for three years said concerns about security and pollution after his concerts were unfounded.

Saturday night's party will feature New York radio DJ Ron G who will spin records along with Bermuda's top DJs Playbwoy The Outlaw Movement, Malcolm (Lethal Weapon) Smith and Craig (Bubbles) Darrell.

A special event will be a swimsuit competition with a $1,000 first prize, and another $750 in runners-up prizes.

Tickets to the party, from 8.30 p.m. to 2 a.m., are available for $30 at Dub City and The 27th Century Boutique.

Entry forms for the swimsuit competition are available from China Black's Boutique.

"There will be something for everyone,'' Mr. Perot said yesterday. "I haven't made any changes with my security or clean up,'' he said.

"I have never had a problem with the Parks Department. Everyone knows I have the tightest security around. And my cleaning and sanitation crews are good at what they do.'' According to Police, a kite was stolen from a visitor at a Southampton residence on Tuesday morning.

The tourist had left the kite unattended in a carry bag outside a house at Southdown Farm, but returned an hour later to discover the kite and bag had been stolen. The kite was a pink and yellow flexi-foil stunt kite.

Another visitor was the victim of a theft when valuables were stolen from under the seat of his rental cycle.

The cycle was parked in the parking lot of the public entrance to Elbow Beach at 9 a.m. on Monday. When the tourist returned to the cycle, he noticed that a Blancpain Swiss watch and a small amount of cash had been stolen from a bag.

SEA VENTURE TO RETURN TRA Sea Venture to return The Sea Venture ferry, which has been out of action since a fire on July 21, should be up and running by the end of the week.
