CD&P raise money for charity
Law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman staff have donated a total of $5000 to two Bermuda charities through its staff benevolent committee.
Ken Siggins, chairman of the committee, gave $2,500 each to the Big Brothers & Sisters of Bermuda and to the Salvation Army. Esme Williams and Joanne Wohlmuth of Big Brothers & Sisters and Major Lindsay Rowe of the Salvation Army accepted the donations on behalf of their respective organisations.
Since the benevolent committee was founded in June, 2002 the staff at CD&P have donated more than $60,000 to local charities, CD&P said in a press statement.
The donations have gone to the Bermuda Diabetes Association, the Sunshine League, the Bermuda Hospitals Auxiliary Board, Battersbee/Lymbery Scholarship Fund, the Committee of 25 for Handicapped Children, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), the Masterworks Foundation, the Bermuda School of Music, Hands of Love, Meals on Wheels, the Bermuda Netball Association (Youth Programme), the Adult Education School, Lefroy House, the Bermuda Senior Islanders Centre, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Bermuda, the TB Cancer & Health Association, PALS, Open Airways, Bermuda Educational Assistance Trust (for blind students), Finesse Productions Style & Fashions, the John?s Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth in Bermuda and the Bermuda Girl Guides.
Mr. Siggins said CD&P staff give on a voluntary basis.
?Every cent counts towards the enrichment of our community,? he said. CD&P partners match the charitable funds that staff raise, dollar for dollar.
