The husband reported to Police that as he was towing his wife west along Spanish Point Road at 10.30 yesterday morning, he noticed a black male riding alongside them briefly before speeding off.

The visitor said that when he realised his black nylon knapsack was missing from the bike's basket, he tried unsuccessfully to chase the man.

TAXI DRIVER REPORTS THEFT CRM Taxi driver reports theft A cab driver who stowed a pouch with a significant amount of cash in his vehicle reported it missing on Friday evening.

Police said the man reported that he was robbed somewhere between 8 and 10.20 on Friday evening as he was having dinner in restaurant.

He apparently secured his cab on Reid Street but on returning to it after dinner, discovered the pouch and various pieces of identification were missing. Police report that they have no suspects in the incident.

STOLEN ITEMS RETURNED TO POLICE CRM Stolen items returned to Police There was quite a happy ending for a Pembroke woman who was robbed over the weekend after a man recovered almost all the items that had been stolen from her and handed them into the Hamilton Police station.

The woman reported to Police that her handbag had been stolen from her Seagull Lane, Pembroke home sometime between midnight on Thursday and 7 a.m. on Friday.

She told Police that only one sliding glass door to her second storey apartment had been left unlocked overnight and that when she awoke, she noticed that a number of other locked doors had also been opened.

The thief or thieves removed jewellery from her kitchen table and her handbag which contained a pager, cellular phone, cash, bank and personal identification cards.

The man who found the items minus the cash, told Police they were scattered on the ground at the bottom of the lane.

Police say they have no current suspects.

SUSPECTED DRUNK REFUSES TEST CRM Suspected drunk refuses test Claiming that he was too drunk to pass the breathalyser test, a driver refused to provide a sample of his breath for analysis.

Police report that at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning -- as they were travelling east on Middle Road near Burnt House Hill -- they "were forced to swerve suddenly in order to avoid a collision '' with a vehicle travelling on the opposite side of the road with its high beams on.

The officers stopped the driver and noticed that he had "a strong smell of alcohol about him.'' They reported that he originally agreed to the breathalyser test but when confronted with taking it, changed his mind. He was detained for further questioning.

MAN ARRESTED FOR `PLANT MATERIAL' CRM Man arrested for `plant material' Police arrested a suspect early on Saturday morning after they found a bag with plant material in his pants pocket.

Officers were following the man at 2 on Saturday morning when they spotted him throwing a plastic bag behind a wall on Ewing Street in Hamilton.

They recovered the bag and found it to contain several smaller bags of plant material.

EAGLE-EYED CLERK BUSTS SHOPLIFTER CRM Eagle-eyed clerk busts shoplifter Police report that a sharp-eyed employee in a Church Street, Hamilton store noticed a woman acting suspiciously around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man reportedly monitored the surveillance cameras and noticed the woman placing several objects into her bag and leaving without paying.

He alerted Police who arrested the woman and recovered all of the stolen items.

FIRE DAMAGES ARNOLD'S TRUCK FIR Fire damages Arnold's truck Fire engulfed a seat and burned the dashboard of a truck belonging to Arnold's supermarket, causing around $1,500 of damage.

Four firefighters attended the scene outside Arnold's Supermarket in Sandys Parish at 8:17 p.m. on Tuesday, but found the blaze was already out. The Fire Prevention Division is investigating the incident.
