Taking advantage of the absence of top contender Dexter Smith, Nick Frost cruised to victory in the Bermuda Table Tennis Closed Championships on

Frost, the top seed, didn't drop a set on the way to a win over fourth-seeded Dennis Pearman in the best-of-five final, 21-9, 21-15, 21-11.

He then teamed with Derron Trott for a win over Lindo and Pearman by the same score in the doubles final.

In the semi-finals, Frost whipped Allen Webbe 21-8, 21-10 while Pearman got by Michael Lindo 21-12, 21-23, 21-17.

Pearman and Lindo both pulled off first round upsets to get that far. Lindo stunned number three seed Rawle Frederick 21-14, 14-21, 24-22 while Pearman surprised Trott, the second seed, 21-18, 14-21, 21-16.

Frost also faced his toughest battle in the first round before holding off Myron Piper 21-17, 21-16.

Frederick rebounded to caputre the consolation crown with a 21-16 win over Dapo Frederick.

HARNESS RACING RAH Sixteen year-old Junior DeSilva, a regular driver of Speedway Jr., collected his first victory of the season by winning the Animal and Garden House feature race at Vesey Street on Sunday.

Two other young drivers made their racing debuts, 15-year-old Colby Sousa driving Jennifer Time and Christopher Wells in the sulky of Nateway.

Despite the heavy track, racing was competitive as Adrianna Rego, driving JB's TW Bell, won the closest race of the afternoon, nipping Championne County (David Lopes) and LL Dane (Colin Mello) in a blanket finish in race nine.

Eddie the Great, with Samantha Hayward, was a double winner while Derrick Seymour was the top driver of the day, winning both heats with Tina's Princess and one heat with Shamrock Temujen, racing for the first time this season.
