The final phase of the 2020 FEI Jumping World Challenge was held at the National Equestrian Centre on Saturday.

The Jumping World Challenge comprised three separate jumping events, with the first two having taken place on February 15 and March 7.

After Saturday’s final phase, the Aon Trophy in Category A (1.2 metres to 1.3 metres) was awarded to Kayla Bardgett and her horse Causing Chaos after they had a cumulative result of no faults and a final time of 112.15 seconds.

In Category B (1.1 metres to 1.2 metres), the Nightmare Trophy was awarded to Philip Correia riding Junior Cardento after no faults and a time of 111.30 seconds.

Finally in category C (1 metres to 1.1 metres), the Central Carolina Trophy was awarded to Correia riding Bon Voyage after securing a score of zero faults and a time of 106.59 seconds.

The challenge offers an individual classification per country and geographical zone in each of the jumping height categories. The regional and world rankings are determined from the best results from two of the three events. The challenge also offers a team classification per geographical zone.

A team has to be composed of three different athletes, with the first-placed athlete in each category making up each federation’s contingent. As a result, Bermuda’s team is made up of Bardgett, Correia and Mackenzie James.

Despite completing all three of their phases, Bermuda equestrians must wait until January to receive the final and official standings in this year’s Jumping World Challenge because competing countries have until December 31 to complete their events.

The winner of category A from each of the different competing regions is then invited to compete in the 2021 FEI Jumping World Finals, the location of which has not yet been confirmed.
