The class teams of this season - Dandy Town and Devonshire Cougars - will have at least one more duel before hanging up their boots - and it will be for silverware.

Cougars earned their date against the St. John's Road club with a well-deserved 4-1 drubbing of Devonshire Colts in last night's FA Cup semi-final at BAA Field. Town booked their place to contest the trophy two Sundays ago, blanking Somerset Trojans 5-0.

Cougars' trip to the final started to be carved out in the tenth minute compliments of an own goal as Colts midfielder Keenan Burchall inadvertently redirected a Raymond Beach shot into his team's net, leaving Colts custodian Kevin Bean with no chance.

Though it took Cougars until the 44th minute to double their score, they really should have hit the target again before that but striker Mark Smith inexplicably missed at least three comfortable opportunities to send his team further ahead, including one virtually on the goal line which he somehow managed to sky over the crossbar.

However wiry striker Heys Wolfe showed his team-mate how it's done just before the half when he received the ball at point-blank range and made sure to get it over the line despite a strong Colts challenge.

Colts' best shot of the first half was a sharp free kick from distance by Dennis Zuill that rocked the crossbar as Cougars ‘keeper LoVintz Tota leapt to cover his territory. The latter then made a great one-handed parry to deny Aljame Zuill's header sneaking inside his left post.

Poor passing by both teams diluted their effectiveness in the early stages of the second half but Cougars jumped to the safety of a 3-0 lead in the 58th minute when Smith finally got his act together.

The rebound from a Beach effort fell to Wolfe, slightly to the left of goal, and he ran forward and crossed to Smith on the far post. This time the sturdy marksman buried the ball.

Colts had their hopes of a revival dashed in the 67th minute when Zuill scored with a brilliant overhead kick only to be ruled offside in the six-yard box. They did pull a goal back through substitute Damon Francis in the 69th minute - a crisp strike from about 15 yards - but a comeback of any worth was always going to be hard against one of the Island's best teams.

Cougars' night was fittingly capped by star forward Raymond Beach who, try as he might, failed to get into his usually slick stride. On the stroke of 90 minutes, however, he found some space on the edge of the area and let rip with a left-footer that beat Bean all ends up.
