Winless Titans determined to put up a fight

Titans' coach Troy Lewis believes two wins this week will put his team right back in the play-off race in the Blue Division when the Island Soccer league (ISL) resumes at the National Sports Centre (NSC).

Winless Titans will have a chance to get themselves back into the thick of things when they take on second-placed Storm tomorrow before tackling leaders Knights on Saturday.

Just three points separate Storm from Titans, and Lewis said a win would set his side up nicely heading into their showdown with the leaders.

"We're in a do or die situation being winless, and in order to get back into the hunt and boost the players' morale it's vital to win our two games this weekend," said Lewis.

"We believe a win will get us back on the right track.

"We have shown we can compete and at times we have outplayed teams but we can't seem to go the whole distance."

One major setback Lewis must rectify is the shipping in of late goals, a trend which has led to Titans struggling in their opening two matches.

Yet, with four games still remaining the team have plenty of time to drag themselves back into the play-off reckoning.

"All our games have been lost in the last two minutes and we have talked about our mental strength in order to sustain a challenge until the end," Lewis said.

"We have experienced players in terms of playing this format, we don't have any of the major Premier Division players in our team but we work hard and try to get the required results each time we step on the pitch.

"We're working on the mental part that will allow them to showcase their skills when both teams are tired and looking to get the game over with."

Knights kick off against Apex tomorrow at 7.30 p.m., before Titans clash with Storm at 8.45 p.m.
