Forums put spotlight on development of boys

THE development of boys will be the subject of a series of four public forums to be held on the island next week.

The Department of Community Education has organised the meetings which will target "parents guardians and concerned citizens".

Sitting on the panels of each "Effective Strategies for the Development of Boys in Bermuda" forum will be men from different walks of life.

The first forum will open on Monday night at the Bermuda Industrial Union, with Police Commissioner Jonathan Smith on the panel, along with Gary Monroe, Stanford Bradshaw and Melvin Bassett.

On Tuesday, St. Mary's Church Hall in Warwick will be the venue with PC Donville Yarde, Leonard Simons, Milton Richardson and Dr. Dena Lista as panellists.

St. George's Cricket Club will host the third forum on Wednesday, as Chief Inspector Anthony Mouchette, Charles Marshall, Dr. Derek Tully and Dr. Glenn Bascome will sit on the panel.

Thursday's fourth and final forum will take place at Sandys Middle School with panellists Alfred Maybury, Anthony Steede, Mark Hall and Dr. Stanley Roberts.

The meetings are open to everyone and will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Community Affairs & Sport Minister Dale Butler promised those who came out to support the events would "be nourished physically, spiritually and educationally".
