Saturday's game between BAA Wanderers and St. George's All-Stars.

That scenerio was set up after a weekend that saw defending champions Wanderers stay three points ahead at the top of the standings with one game remaining. Wanderers hammered Fire Service 5-2 to stay in first place while second-placed Lobster Pot were eliminated after managing a 0-0 draw with MR Onions. That leaves them four points out with one game remaining.

Wayne DeSilva and Thomas Gribbon each scored two goals for the Wanderers while Billy Kirkpatrick got the other. For Fire Service, Allan Wilkinson and Robert Thomas netted from the penalty spot.

The only team now that can catch the Wanderers is Robin Hood, who edged St.

George's All-Stars 1-0.

Hood now have to beat Spinning Wheel while hoping that St. George's get a similiar result against Wanderers.

All-Stars and Onions are now level on points in the battle to avoid the second relegation spot. Spinning Wheel are already doomed. MR Onions take on Mariners in their final match while St. George's, with an inferior goal difference, must take points off Wanderers.

North Village Rams pulled themselves to safety with a 5-1 thrashing of the Mariners on Saturday as Stevie Dickinson netted a hat-trick and Kenny Thompson and Paul Trott got the others. Rams never looked back after taking a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Ireland Rangers consigned Spinning Wheel to Group B after beating them 5-3.

Keith Bremar scored four of the Rangers goals, Blake Outerbridge got the other. Quinton Ming and Jack Castle replied for Spinning Wheel.

An interesting battle for the second promotion spot is developing after Somerset Extros failed to field sufficient players for their home match against already promoted Forties. Extros lead the scoring charts with 91 goals matches but there are reports they have mixed feelings about promotion to the more competitive Group A.

Extros were second in the standings going into the weekend, four points ahead of Prison Officers whose match with Devonshire All-Stars also did not go ahead because of short-handed opponents.

In other Group B action, Valley trounced Belco 7-0 with Kevin Isaac scoring a hat-trick, Berwin Thomas two and Sean Smith and Rachid Tehhani one each.

Exiles got by Wolves Pack 3-1 with Antoine Cannonier scoring twice and Clevelyn Crichlow the other while Kacy Burgess replied for Wolves.

Devonshire Lions came out 7-5 winners over Bermuda Pest Control as Raynell Perinchief netted a hat-trick for the Lions, Kevin Hodgson, Eugene Eversley, Ernest McCallan and an own goal added to the tally.
