Hamilton Parish 3 Tuff Dogs 3(Parish win 4-3 on penalties)Jordan Burgess grabbed a last-gasp equaliser in extra time and then converted the winner in a penalty shoot-out to guide ten-man Hamilton Parish to victory over Wolves in the FA Cup Preliminary round at Wellington Oval yesterday.Wolves led 3-2 and appeared to be home and dry with just stoppage time remaining before Burgess levelled with a thumping strike from 25 yards to send the game to penalties.The 17-year-old forward stepped up to take the final kick with the score level at 3-3 which he slammed into the roof of the net.It was indeed a truly remarkable turnaround for Burgess who had earlier conceded twice after replacing goalkeeper Tjay Brangman who was unable to shake off a knock he suffered in a collision.“Jordan went in goal, Jordan played on the wing, Jordan played in the centre, Jordan won us the game,” Omar Allen, the Parish coach, said. “Jordan had his work cut out today and he stepped up.”Describing his cracking effort from outside of the box towards the end of extra time, Burgess said: “I picked it up and dribbled and as soon as I saw the opportunity to score, I took it.”As for his winner from 12-yards, the teenager added: “I just humbled myself and took it.”Wolves were the better side on the day, but were left to rue a plethora of wasted chances that ultimately came back to haunt them. They also had a second-half goal waved offside with the score 1-1.Wolves got off to a flying start after Kyle Brangman gave them an early lead in the sixth minute. The forward got to a through ball, rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home.However, Wolves’ joy was short-lived as Quincy Glasford brought Parish back on level terms just two minutes later with a left-footed finish from outside of the box. Parish were reduced to ten men after goalkeeper Brangman left the field hurt with his team having used all of their substitutes.Things then turned from bad to worse for Allen’s team as Vincent Minors pounced on a loose ball in the box and beat makeshift goalkeeper Burgess from close range to restore Wolves’s lead after they had a goal disallowed for offside.Wolves squandered a golden opportunity to kill the game off when Marcus Ming failed to convert on a breakaway.It proved to be a costly miss as Parish won a penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time which substitute Ramone Smith dispatched to make it 2-2 and send the game to extra time.Wolves wasted another opportunity in the first period of extra time before Tyree Robinson put them back in front for the third time in stunning fashion.
