Joke's on you if you miss Nadanja's upcoming shows!

NADANJA Bailey has a bone to pick with you - your funny bone. Nadanja, one of Bermuda's most popular and busiest comedians, is hosting a couple of upcoming events this July.

Nadanja, 31 years old, learned that he loved to entertain people at a young age, a gift he says that he inherited from his father, Bermudian jazz great Wendell (Shine) Hayward.

"Shine is my dad and I learned that I loved to entertain from watching him when I was a kid. I looked forward to school every day because I knew I could make people laugh and I had an audience ready to go," he said.

And make people laugh and entertain he did. In 2000 Nadanja and his good friend and partner, Jah Simmons, wrote and preformed their infamous "2 Fools" comedy routine, which was received with great enthusiasm and acclaim and cemented their reputations on the Bermudian entertainment circuit.

The two-man show ran for four years before they parted ways but the duo still gets together to perform for special events. Schools often request the "2 Fools" to come in and do their famous "How Not To Get A Job" skit in which Nadanja and Jah will show senior school students the wrong way to go about obtaining a job and how not to act during a job interview.

Nadanja is not just a local Bermuda name. Far from it, he is one of the hottest up and comers on the North American comedy circuit and is away from Bermuda at least twice a month performing. He mainly tours the East Coast, with a majority of his shows in New York City. His largest audience was 4000 people at a comedy competition in Orlando, Florida in 2005. A competition that he won. He has also performed for, and was widely received at, Jamie Foxx's Laffapalooza in 2006.

His comedy routine is something that he describes as "Keeping as real as possible. I like to make people laugh about real life situations that everyone can relate to. It's raw but not offensive lewd or crass and everyone can share in the laughter and get into the show."

When asked what the attraction is to comedy he says it's the clapping, laughing and constant interaction with the audience. " When I first started at a young age I was a singer and everyone would clap. I wasn't sure if they were clapping because I'd done a good job or because they wanted me off stage. With comedy you'll know instantly if the crowd likes your routine or not."

This weekend, on July 5, people can see Nadanja at the Fairmont Southampton Princess as he dishes out the laughs at a live stand-up comedy event that promises to be full of fun and belly busting laughter with both local and international comedians. Extreme Entertainment approached Nadanja and asked him to host the live event that includes Klymaxx, Vanessa Fraction, Jason Andors and Smokey.

On July 13 he will be hosting the "Dem Youngins Got Talent" show at the new Berkeley Institute auditorium. He was approached by Latoya Brangman to host the event after she had worked with him previously in the comic play Tony and Tina's Wedding which ran here in Bermuda at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess in 2006.

The next big project he's working on is a routine that he'll be starring in with his sister Nishanthi called "What's Your Problem?!" The new show will be a series of comedic skits that will draw upon various aspects of the entertainers life as well as his thoughts on various subjects.

"I'm just writing it now and am very excited about this project" says Nadanja "You don't really know me until you have seen this show!"

When asked how he has been received here in Bermuda, Nadanja says he's gotten a lot of support from people and "the love I get at home keeps me going."
