Ex-KBB executive charged with stealing cash

The former executive director of Keep Bermuda Beautiful (KBB) has been charged with stealing $42,050 in cash from the charity.

Lennox Michael Boodram is alleged to have committed the offence between October 24, 2001 and May 30, 2005.

The 46-year-old, of Random Lane West, Warwick, appeared at Magistrates' Court yesterday, where he was also accused of inducing Susan Amos, by false pretences and with intent to defraud, to endorse a Bank of Bermuda cheque drawn on the KBB account between a date unknown and August 27, 2004.

Boodram faces two further charges of receiving $4,533.13 belonging to KBB - on August 27, 2004 and on February 18, 2005 - knowing it to be stolen or unlawfully obtained.

Boodram did not enter pleas to the charges as they are indictable and will be heard at Supreme Court.

The case was adjourned until February 7 and Boodram was released on $5,000 bail with one surety in the same amount.
