Considered to be one of the Island's leading landscape artists, she has been painting here for almost 30 years, and continues to be fascinated by trying to capture the transient and unique quality of Bermuda's light and colours. Her work currently hangs in many corporate and private collections, both here and abroad. She has exhibited, both individually and collectively, in many local and overseas exhibitions, including the prestigious Mall Galleries in London. Mrs. Head was recently elected an artist-member of the Copley Society of Boston, the oldest art society in the US.

Kris Jensen began her early art training in high school before going on to study biology and art at college in her native United States. Following her graduation, she worked as a scientific illustrator at the Smithsonian Institution, as well as in various natural history museums. Upon arrival in Bermuda, she continued working as a scientific illustrator as well as a photographer of marine invertebrates at the Bermuda Biological Station for Research. Then, inspired by the profusion of bright flowers here, she obeyed an overwhelming urge to paint them in water colours. Encouraged by fellow artists, Mrs. Jensen participated in Lightworks shows, submitting both water colour studies and photographs. Later she would also paint in oils. Her fascination with shadow, light and colour subsequently expanded to include elements of Bermuda architecture. She has exhibited in many local galleries, and was a founder-member of Growing.

Jonah Jones is an oil painter renowned for using big, thick, juicy swabs of paint applied with a palette knife. Rather than snapshot sharpness, his works endeavour to capture a sense of timelessness and ambiguity. Born in London in 1966, Mr. Jones attended school in Britain and Germany before spending five years as a Royal Marine commando, during which time he trained as a chef. He began painting in 1992 when he attended the Bermuda College Fine Arts programme. He is currently studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history with the Open University. Mr. Jones has participated in both group and one-man shows in local galleries, and currently has a studio at the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard. His works is found in private and public collections both here and abroad.

Elmer Midgett graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts. He worked in stained glass for many years before taking up painting. On returning to Bermuda in 1980 he founded Lightworks -- a series of group exhibitions featuring glass pieces. In 1987 he started its successor, Growing, which originally began showing glass only but has since expanded to embrace a variety of media. Mr. Midgett holds the distinction of having participated in every exhibition of both Lightworks and Growing.

Dr. Marion Watlington Vorley is a Bermudian who received her early art training at the Bermuda High School for Girls. Owing to her busy career as a medical practitioner, she did not take up painting again until her marriage in 1993, when she took lessons with Mrs. Maria Smith and also participated in art workshops arranged by the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard. A keen traveller, Dr. Watlington Vorley's adventures are the inspiration for much for her work, and she also enjoys capturing nature in landscapes and botanicals. A water colourist, she is considering exploring other media. Dr. Watlington Vorley, who paints under the name Marion Watlington, is a second-time participant in Growing exhibitions, her first being a sell-out success.
