Russell stays on loan at Mickleover
Antwan Russell, the Bermuda striker, will remain on loan at Mickleover Sports for another month from his parent club, Ilkeston FC.
Russell’s Bermudian team-mate, Lejuan Simmons, however, has returned to Ilkeston from his loan spell at Mickleover, who play in the league below, to challenge for a first- team place.
Both players were farmed out to Mickleover to gain match practice after failing to cement starting berths at Ilkeston this season. Russell, formerly of Robin Hood, won a penalty in Mickleover’s 2-0 victory away to Bedworth United on his debut for the side last month.
Ilkeston forged links with the Island last season through a partnership with the Bermuda Hogges.
Another Bermudian, Rai Simons, is also on Ilkeston’s books and has impressed for both their first team and particularly their Academy side this season.
