Premier's son fails in bid to lower $4m bail

In custody:Kevin Brown sits in a courtroom for a hearing on his medical license, last week, in Los Angeles. The judge in the hearing referred the matter to the previous commissioner. Yesterday a motion to reduce his $4m bail was turned down.

Premier Ewart Brown's son remains in custody today after arguments to lower his bail were denied in an LA Court yesterday.

Kevin Antario Brown,37, who is a physician at his Crenshaw Expo Medical Center, on Crenshaw Boulevard in Los Angeles faces 33 charges including a lewd act on a 15-year-old, rape, sexual battery by fraud and sexual exploitation.

Yesterday Commissioner Henry Hall denied his lawyer's motion to lower bail, which remains at $4 million and further conditions were ordered should he make bail.

According to Jane Robison of the Defense Attorney's office, should Brown make bail he will have to have a chaperone approved by the state medical board at all times if he treats patients.

He will have to wear an electronic monitoring device and will not be able to travel anywhere besides work and court. Nor will be able to travel beyond the Los Angeles County line and he will have to surrender his passport.

Brown's trial was then adjourned until September 29 for preliminary hearings.
