Bermuda aid gets through to Bosnia
safely reached its destination.
This was confirmed in a letter sent to local aid organiser Mrs. Lucy Willitts.
Mrs. Willitts, with the help of the Medjugorge Peace Plan Group and St.
Patrick's Church, sent off the seventh container of humanitarian aid in November to ensure that it reached Bosnia before the bitter winter set in.
"The aid got safely here and we distributed one part for the refugees to the Caritas of Brac and another part we sent to Podgora and Sarajevo, also for refugees and those who are in real need,'' said the letter. "We would like to thank the Medjugorge Peace Plan and all their supporters for their help. The need for help is still very big and we hope you will continue your good work.'' Mrs. Willitts said she also wanted to thank the local Red Cross and Bermuda General Agency's Mr. Ward Young for their "great help''.
Asked if she was planning more help, she pointed to the letter and said: "I have to! This war has been going on for five years. And the people, especially the children, are suffering terribly.
"I hope Bermudians will continue to sympathise and support us. The severe cold there is taking a terrible toll on these people. The peace talks don't seem to bring peace so we have to go on.''
