CEOs to face the public at Stock Exchange open house
In a bid to get Bermudians to invest in the local stock market, the Bermuda Stock Exchange is taking to the road once again.
On March 24 the BSX will host an open house in the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, and will roll out some of the men and women at the top of Bermuda's listed companies. The names of those attending have not yet been released.
The free event is aimed at giving new and existing investors the opportunity to find out more about the local stock exchange and the public companies listed on it.
"It will be a great opportunity to kick the tyres,'' said Joanne MacPhee, corporate communications manager at the BSX.
`It will be a great opportunity to kick the tyres.' "As part of our ongoing commitment to the local investment community, the BSX has joined forces with its top seven main board companies and a number of its leading retail brokers to create a dynamic interactive investor event.
"The open house, called `Invest Bermuda' will feature exhibition booths and a number of brief auditorium presentations, all geared at giving local investors a better understanding of the investment opportunities available to them in Bermuda.'' According to the BSX, Invest Bermuda will "give members of the public one-on-one access to many of the top decision makers at the helm of Bermuda's leading companies''.
"They will have the opportunity to discuss past performance and inquire about future initiatives and get a better understanding overall of what companies are doing so that ultimately they can make informed investment decisions.'' Some of Bermuda's leading brokers will also be present to establish an "investment relationship'' with attendees.
The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon, and there will be special events for children manned by the BUEI staff.
"We realise there is never a perfect day or time for everyone,'' Mrs. MacPhee said. "But we want to make it as easy and convenient as possible for anyone who is interested in the local stock market and investing generally to come along and participate.''
