Sims finds consistency hard to come by as he misses his fourth Tour cut
Michael Sims missed another cut on the Nationwide Tour yesterday, this time at the $600,000 Livermore Valley Wine Country Championships in California.
Starting the second round at eight-over par after a hugely disappointing first-day 80 which left him in tied for 127th, the Nationwide rookie was always up against it when it came to making it through to the weekend.
And just as he had on the first day, Sims struggled with his consistency on the 7,183-yard, par 72-course, firing one double bogey, four bogeys and four birdies en route to a score of 74 — two-over par for the day, ten-over par for the tournament and some six shots off the projected cut of plus-four.
His next Nationwide Tour assignment comes in mid-April at the $600,000 South Georgia Classic.
After five events, Sims has made one cut — at the Jacob’s Creek Open in Adelaide, Australia — and made $1,307 in prize money.
