KeyTech drives up BSX
The Royal Gazette Bermuda Stock Exchange Index rose 82.5 points or 1.32 percent last week, after stocks jumped more than 100 points on Tuesday in an otherwise quiet week.
Tuesday's 108.3 point surge was driven by KeyTech, whose shares rocketed just over 41 percent or $4.55 to close at $15.55 after 3,900 shares were traded.
KeyTech ended the week in the same position, with a total of 3,900 shares.
The gain offset a drop in Belco shares, which fell 80 cents or 3.36 percent to $23 on volume of 10,190.
Also falling were insurers Argus and BF&M, which fell 35 cents or 2.37 percent and $1.25 or 6.49 percent respectively.
Trading was heavy in Argus shares, with 35,100 changing hands, while BF&M saw volume of a more modest 5,600.
Index bellwether Butterfield Bank rose 25 cents (0.42 percent) to $59.50om volume of 18,884 shares while Bermuda Commercial Bank rose 50 cents (5.56 percent) to $9.50 on trading of 6,000.
The Bermuda Insurance Index was up 4.52 points to 1,176.13 in a week in which locally based international insurers and reinsurers posted steady gains.
