Festival honours Island?s artists
If you consider yourself a bit of a culture vulture then don?t miss the annual Spring into the Arts festival which kicked off yesterday at CedarBridge Academy.
The festival is organised by the Ministry of Education and Development and includes participation by five schools over a period of five nights, encouraging greater participation in the arts amongst schools and within the community.
Last night the Sandys Family of Schools performed at CedarBridge. Spice Valley students will take the stage tonight and Dellwood will perform tomorrow night.
Whitney Family of Schools and Clearwater will round off the festival on Monday and Tuesday nights. The theme for this years? festival is ?Dream on?.
For the first time this year two people from the community who have made significant contributions to the Arts in Bermuda will be honoured each night.
These include Charles Lloyd Tucker for visual arts, Ruth Thomas for theatre, Shirley Pearman for visual arts, The Talbot Brothers and Hubert Smith for their musical contribution, Bruce Hallet and Anthony Best for their technical contribution, The Menuhin Foundation for musical contribution, Conchita Ming for dance and Doug and Barbara Frith for music and dance.
