VISITOR'S VIEW
A wonderful visit
July 12, 2005
Dear Sir,
Once again we have just returned from an excellent visit to your beautiful island after visiting family and friends. We have been coming to Bermuda for 20 odd years now and see ourselves as "Old Hands", not tourists as such. We are still amazed that the vast majority of Bermudians we meet have the manners and courtesy long forgotten in so much of the UK.
While we are on the Island, we try and take part in local cultural events and other interesting Island experiences. This time we went on the tour round the Great Sound on the run by the Cultural Department for a talk about the various islands used to house prisoners of war. This was extremely well attended, most interesting and ran for the whole evening making an excellent evening out. We were also one of the few "tourists" at the first Admiral's Feast, held at Dockyard in the Queen's Exhibit Hall.
The Bermudians who made up most of the "feasters" made us feel welcome, especially the "Admiral" Bryan Darby who took us under his wing. As long standing visitors we even understood the topical humour of the musician Chris Broadhurst who was our entertainer for the evening. The night went SO quickly and before we knew where we were we were on the Ferry back to Hamilton.
We have told all our Bermudian family and friends how much we enjoyed both these events and many have vowed to look out for future occasions of a similar nature. So until we visit again (hopefully next year ? BA's extortionate fares permitting) thanks to everyone who made our latest visit so wonderful.
