Warning issued over ?scrambling?
Police are warning parents of kids with motocross cycles to keep an eye on where they are riding them after an upsurge in illegal racing at Pembroke dump.
Riders risk serious injury warned Det. Con. Brian Robinson as the unstable terrain could give way.
Det. Con. Robinson said: "It is not solid, if you hit it from the wrong angle you can go into it. It's not like a proper motocross track. There are tree trunks sticking out of the ground."
Motocross are illegal on Bermuda's roads but Det. Con. Robinson said riders were flouting this to ride to the dump and thus risked fines of hundreds of dollars for failure to have licences and insurance.
The problem has been around for a while said Police but the Christmas holidays have seen an upsurge in activity as riders have taken advantage of the lack of workers at the dump to pursue their illegal activity.
"Parents have to ask questions if there kids are not going to Southside and they are not part of the Scramblers' Association."
